The Webster City Lynx boys soccer team received a #6 ranking in the inaugural IHSAA Class 2A Rankings on Monday afternoon.
Webster City is the only ranked team out of the North Central Conference, as they are off to a 5-0 start and have outscored opponents 35-1 in their first 5 games of the season, as Craig Signorin’s squad looks to qualify for back-to-back state tournaments.
The Lynx have been led by outstanding individual performances in 2024, as junior Eddy Fuentes is #2 in Iowa in goals scored with 16 (Greene County’s Gesser Gutierres leads the state with 26). Teammate Eduardo Perez is tied for 21st with 9 goals scored so far this season. Freshman goalie Edwin Nolasco Ramos also is tied for 2nd in the state in goals allowed, with just 1 in nearly 370 minutes of game action. The only goalkeepers with more minutes accumulated with 1 goal allowed are Bishop Heelan junior Landon Block and West Central Valley senior Nate Gerling.
Webster City returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Aplington to take on (7-1) Aplington-Parkersburg at 5:30 PM.
