The Webster City Lynx tennis teams returned to action on Tuesday afternoon, as they took on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action. The Lynx boys took on IF-A at Assembly Park in Iowa Falls, while the Lynx girls took on IF-A at Webster City High School.
Webster City’s boys started their day with a Rogan Nepereny 10-3 loss in Position 1 to Calvin Hutchinson, before Hank Christenson would lose 10-5 to Brayden Moestchen. Zayden Card would fall to Camren Madden 10-0, before the Lynx suffered two more shutout losses as Codi Gray wrapped up singled losing to Connor Osman 10-4 as IF-A swept the singles. The Cadets would then sweep the doubles as they took the Position 1 match 10-3, the Position 2 match 10-1 and the Position 3 match by a 10-0 shut out to win the match 9-0.
The Lynx girls would not fair much better than their male counterparts, as Allie Severe lost her Position 1 match 10-1, followed by Cyra Christensen losing her Position 2 match 10-3. Perla Torres would lose to Aubrey Johnson 10-1, before Gabbie Sebert fell just short of knocking off Hailey Sudtelgte by a score of 10-8. Alivia Burns would get a win for the Lynx with a 10-7 decision over Kadynce Winters, before Hailey Brim would lose to Jordyn Carpenter 10-2. IF-A would take the first two doubles matches convincingly, before having to eek out the 3rd match in extras, winning 11-10 with an extra set score of 7-2 to fall by a final of 8-1.
Webster City boys return to action when they host North Polk on Thursday afternoon, while the Lynx girls return to action on Friday when they host Dike-New Hartford.
