The cause behind a fire at the United Coop grain elevator at Stonega in northern Hamilton County remains under investigation. Fire departments from several area communities responded to the fire early Sunday morning. The call was received shortly before 1:30. There were no injuries in the fire. The bin eventually collapsed spilling with it an estimated 50,000 bushels of grain from the structure. Crews from United Coop spent much of Sunday in removing the grain from the site. The flames from the charred rubble of the elevator continued through much of day into the night of Sunday. Firefighters were hampered by the rain and wind of early Sunday in battling the fire in northern Hamilton County at the Stonega United Coop facility.
