The Roland-Story Norsemen track teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they competed in the Nevada Co-Ed Invitational at Nevada High School. The Norsemen were joined by the host Cubs, as well as Ballard, Carroll, Creston, Grand View Christian, Grinnell, Grand View Christian and North Polk.
Roland-Story’s boys would take home a handful of winners on Thursday, the first coming in the shuttle hurdle relay, winning in a time of 1:05.05 with the team of Long-Berggren-Barber-Strum. That was followed by a 1-2 finish in the 110m High Hurdles as Jayden Strum won in a time 16.44, while Jake Berggren placed 2nd in a time of 16.99. Roland-Story’s final event win would come in the boys 4×200, winning in a time of 1:35.10 with the team of Carlson-Mazyck-McIlrath-S. Knoll. The boys 4×100 would narrowly miss out on a gold medal, placing 2nd in a time of 44.94 with the team of Carlson-McIlrath-Berggren-S. Knoll.
As for the Norsemen girls, they would pick up just a couple of winners on Thursday night, as Claire Truesdell won the 3000m run in a time of 11:47.61. Selah Helgeson would then win the 100m Hurdles in a time of 17.13 seconds.
The Norsemen girls would place 2nd with 111 points behind champion North Polk, while the Norsemen boys placed 4th with 95.5 points as Nevada took home the team title.
