
The Roland-Story Norsemen and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows girls golf teams opened their 2024 seasons on Thursday night, as they faced off with one another at Oak Ridge Golf and Recreation in Goldfield.
Roland-Story opened their defense of their Class 2A State Title and did so in impressive fashion, shooting 184 as a team in the nine-hole meet. Makenna Carlson would shoot a 40 (+4), while Brooke Thompson shot a 45 (+9). Brinley Carlson would shoot a 49 (+13), Abby Cook scored a 50 (+14), while Gabriella Wakefield and Grace Corcoran both shot 58’s (+22).
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows got a strong opening performance from Sawyer Morrical, who shot a 50 (+14). Sydney Friesleben would shoot 64 (+28), while Claire Kirstein scored a 65 (+29). The lineup was rounded out by Jorydce Duncalf shooting a 71 (+35), Sophia McLaughlin shooting 73 (+37) and Maddie Askvig shooting a 74 (+38) to give the Cowgirls a team score of 250.
Roland-Story girls return to action on Tuesday, when they compete in the BCLUW Invite. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Jewell to compete in a tri-meet with South Hamilton and Eagle Grove.
