Webster City, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows boys track compete in North Iowa Indoor Championship

The Webster City Lynx and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys track teams made the trip north on Friday afternoon, to compete in the annual North Iowa Indoor Championships at the Clear Lake Health and Wellness Center at Clear Lake High School. The Lynx and Cowboys were joined by the host Lions, as well as Algona, Central Springs, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Iowa Falls-Alden, Osage and Saint Ansgar.

Webster City would have two individual meet champions on the night, with Jaxon Cherry taking home gold in the shot put with a throw of 49′ 6.25″. Justin Callahan would win the 1600-meter run in a time of 4:53.46. Cherry would also qualify third in the boys 60-meter dash in a time of 7.30, but did not run in the final. Jayden Weinzetl would place 4th in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.34. Lincoln Tielke would place 9th in the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.66, while Jack Barner placed 8th in the 3200-meter run in a time of 11:52.73. The Lynx top placing relay was the 4×200, placing 3rd in 1:38.37 with the team of Weinzetl-Hisler-Estlund-Hrnicek.

Clarion-Goldfield-Dows would not have a champion in the meet, as their top placer was Christopher Greenfield, who placed 7th in the 3200-meter run in 11:48.10. Greenfield also placed 7th in the 1600-meter run in 5:16.39. Bryce Lindaman would be the Cowboys top shot putter, placing 19th with a toss of 37′ 9″, while Ethan Boots placed 22nd in the long jump with a mark of 16′ 7.5″. Boots also had the top 60-meter dash time with a mark of 7.83 seconds.
