The Webster City Lynx boys basketball team returned to action on Monday night, when they made the trip into Story County to take on the Ballard Bombers in Class 3A, Substate 2 action at Ballard High School in Huxley. The Lynx entered with a record of 7-14, while Ballard entered at 13-8.
It would be a fast start for the Bombers on Monday, jumping out to an initial 10-0 lead on the Lynx, leading 20-6 after the first quarter. The Lynx offense would pickup in the 2nd quarter, but the Bombers kept their torrent pace and led 40-18 at halftime. The Lynx sprang to life in the 3rd quarter on both ends of the floor, outscoring the Bombers 20-8 in the frame to cut it to 48-38, but Ballard would close out a 67-46 win.
The Bombers advance to take on Humboldt on Thursday night in their Class 3A, Substate 2 semifinal in Huxley. Webster City’s season ends with a record of 7-15.
