The Eagle Grove Eagles boys basketball team returned to action on Monday night, as they hosted the Southeast Valley Jaguars in Class 2A, District 11 action at Eagle Grove Elementary School. The Eagles entered at 10-10, while the Jaguars entered at 2-17.
It would be an inauspicious start to the night for the Eagles, are turnovers and quiet 3-point shooting limited them to an 11-11 score after the first quarter, before taking a 24-27 lead at halftime. In the 2nd half, it would be the play of Jaxon Morris and Tyreon Franklin that pushed the lead to double digits in the 3rd quarter, and back into double digits in the 4th quarter as the Eagles capped a 67-56 win.
The KQWC Player of the Game was Eagle Grove junior Jaxon Morris, who had a game-high 26 points, while Brady Hanson led Southeast Valley with 21 points.
Eagle Grove basketball advances to take on South Central Calhoun in the Class 2A, District 11 semifinal at SCC Middle School in Rockwell City at 7 PM.
