Roland-Story wrestling sends 5 wrestlers to state in 2A, District 7 Tournament

The Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they hosted their Class 2A, District 7 tournament at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen were joined by Ballard, Chariton, Humboldt, North Polk, Oskaloosa and Woodward-Granger.

Roland-Story would see 5 individuals qualify for Wednesday’s state tournament, the first coming from freshman Caiden Latch at 113 pounds. Latch would win a 4-0 decision over Humboldt’s Aden Prenger in the semifinals, before pinning Oskaloosa’s Ty Lorentzen in the finals to capture the title. Kade Blume would be the next qualifier at 132 pounds, winning his semifinal match by fall over Chariton’s Damon Aduddell, before winning a 9-2 decision over Oskaloosa’s Kaiden Parker to capture the district title.

The Norsemen’s next qualifier would be Logan Powers at 165, as Powers would pin Woodward-Granger’s Terrin Lawrenson in the semifinals, before losing to Humboldt’s Broedy Hendricks in a 5-2 decision in the finals to place 2nd. Hesston Johnson would follow up with a dominant showing at 175, pinning Humboldt’s Landon Halverson in the semifinals, before winning a 14-3 major decision over North Polk’s Cohan Torres in the title match. Aaron Peyton would capture the Norsemen’s 4th individual title, pinning Chariton’s Ian Wilson in the semifinals, before winning a 4-3 decision over North Polk’s Tucker Anderson in the title match.

Roland-Story would place 4th with 123 points, Humboldt was the team champion with 176.5 points.
