The Roland-Story Norsemen girls basketball team returned to action on Saturday night, as they hosted the Bulldogs of Hampton-Dumont-CAL in Class 3A, Region 4 action at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen girls entered with a record of 20-1, while the Bulldogs were 11-10.
Roland-Story’s offense would struggle to start, but the intensity on the defensive end would make up for it, holding the Bulldogs to single digits in the first half in a 23-7 advantage. The offenses would get going in the 2nd half, but it was Roland-Story that clamped down in the 4th quarter to pull away for a 54-27 win.
Elizabeth Ihle led the Norsemen with 15 points of 7/8 shooting, while Matilde Motta had 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals.
Roland-Story basketball advances to the regional semifinal, where they’ll host Clear Lake on Wednesday night at 7 PM.
