The Eagle Grove Eagles girls basketball team opened up postseason play on Saturday night, as they made the trip north into Kossuth County to take on the Algona Bulldogs in Class 3A, Region 2 action at Algona High School. The Eagles entered at 0-21, while the Bulldogs entered at 18-3.
Algona wasted little time in pouncing on the Eagles, jumping out to a 15-6 lead after the first quarter, a lead that ballooned to 41-17 at halftime. The margin only grew in the 2nd half, as Algona outscored the Eagles 33-14 to cap off a 74-31 win. Casey VanOtterloo led all scorers with 24 points and 8 three-pointers for the Bulldogs.
Algona advances to face Garner-Hayfield-Ventura on Wednesday night, while Eagle Grove’s season ends at 0-22.
