The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Humboldt Wildcats in North Central Conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School in Clarion. The Cowgirls entered with a record of 2-13, while the Cowboys entered at 3-11.
For the 2nd game in a row, the opposition got out to a fast start as Humboldt lead 25-11 after the first quarter, a lead that got extended to 44-20 at halftime. The Wildcats would keep the foot on the gas in the 3rd quarter, leading 63-27 after the frame, before cruising to a 66-35 win. Indy Johnson led CGD with 13 points, while Morgan Mann had a game-high 21 points for the Wildcats.
The boys game followed with Clarion looking to make some noise following their Monday night win, and trailed the high-powered Wildcats just 12-10 after the first quarter. From there, the Humboldt offense found a 2nd and 3rd gear, outscoring the Cowboys 25-17 in the 2nd quarter and 20-16 in the 3rd quarter, before closing out a 72-53 win. CGD freshman Chaz Lane had a game-high 21 points, while Corey Dettmann led Humboldt with 16 points.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Friday, when they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL in North Central Conference action at CGD High School.
