The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Monday night, as they made the short drive to Fort Dodge to take on the Gaels of St. Edmond in non-conference action at St. Edmond High School. The Eagle girls entered at 0-16, while the Eagle boys entered at 8-7.
Eagle Grove’s girls were still in search of win #1 on Monday night, but got off to a promising start, trailing just 8-7 after the first quarter and 25-22 at halftime. However, the Gaels offense would muster just enough offense in the 2nd half to come away with a 46-36 win. Chloe Palmer led St. Edmond with 16 points on the night.
The boys game followed as Eagle Grove looked to pick up a quality non-conference win, as the Eagles led 16-12 after the first quarter, and 29-25 at halftime. The Eagles appeared to be poised to pull away, holding a 45-37 lead after the 3rd quarter, but St. Edmond put together a big 4th quarter comeback and stole a 55-52 win. Jaxon Morris led Eagle Grove with 25 points on the night.
Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Tuesday, when they host North Union in Top of Iowa West action at Eagle Grove Elementary School.
