The Webster City Lynx and Roland-Story Norsemen wrestling teams returned to action on Saturday morning, as they competed in the annual Norsemen Dual Tournament at Roland-Story High School. The Lynx and Norsemen were joined by Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Saydel, OABCIG and Central Decatur.
Webster City would go 4-1 on the day, their lone loss in their opening dual against NCC-rival Hampton-Dumont-CAL, as they fell 44-27. The Lynx would follow up with a 74-6 win over Saydel, a 44-34 win over Roland-Story, a 69-6 win over OABCIG, before ending the day with a 69-12 win over Central Decatur. The Lynx saw numerous wrestlers have perfect days, with Linden Phetxoumphone (113), Carson Doolittle (126), Tristan Mason (150) and Eli Estlund (215) going 5-0 on the day. Phetxoumphone won a rematch over HD-CAL’s Jayson Stevens of the 113-pound NCC Title match via a 5-2 decision.
Roland-Story would go 3-2 on the day, starting their tournament with a 75-6 win over OABCIG, before falling to Hampton-Dumont-CAL 56-23. The Norsemen then fell to Webster City 44-34 before reeling off back-to-back wins, beating Central Decatur 51-28 and Saydel 59-18. Roland-Story saw their top 3 wrestlers go 5-0 on the day with Kade Blume (138), Logan Powers (165) and Hesston Johnson (175).
Webster City wrestling returns to action on Tuesday night, when they travel to Sergeant Bluff to take on Glenwood in the 1st round of the Class 2A Regional duals at 6 PM. Roland-Story wrestling returns to action on Saturday, February 10th, as they host their Class 2A District Tournament at Roland-Story High School.
