The Webster City Lynx basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the drive into Cerro Gordo County to take on the Clear Lake Lions in North Central Conference action at Clear Lake High School. The Lynx girls entered at 0-11, while the Lynx boys entered at 1-6.
It was a fast start for the Clear Lake girls, as they led 23-8 after the first quarter. The 2nd quarter saw the Lions defense clamp down and turn defense to offense, shutting out the Lynx in the frame to take a 49-8 halftime lead. The Lynx offense would pick up a tad in the 2nd half, but Clear Lake would manage to grind out a 61-24 win. Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.
The boys game followed as the Lynx faced a tall task against the top-ranked team in Class 3A, but Brett Ratcliffe’s squad hung tough early, trailing just 16-8 after the first quarter, and trailed 26-16 at halftime. The Lynx would hold serve in the 3rd quarter, but the Lions lead had been extended to 42-27, before Clear Lake pulled away in the 4th for a 54-35 win.
Webster City basketball returns to action on Friday, when they travel to Algona to take on the Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Algona High School.
