The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Gaels of Fort Dodge, St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School. The Cowgirls entered at 1-7, while the boys entered at 2-6.
After a sluggish performance the first time against the Gaels, CGD had much more to offer on Tuesday, trailing 11-8 after the first quarter. The offenses picked up in the 2nd quarter for the Cowgirls, who went into the halftime locker room tied at 22-22. The Cowgirls defense would stiffen in the 3rd quarter, holding the Gaels to just 5 points, before closing out a 48-37 win in the 4th quarter. Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.
The boys game followed with CGD looking to continue building confidence in a young, yet talented group, but St. Edmond had other ideas, as the Gaels led 14-11 after the first quarter. The Gaels defense would clamp down from there, extending their lead to 32-19 at halftime, before it ballooned to 50-30 after three quarters. St. Edmond would then hold serve for a 66-33 win. Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Friday night, as they travel to Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action.
