The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Cougars of Manson-Northwest Webster in non-conference action at Eagle Grove Elementary School. The Eagle girls entered with a record of 0-6, while the Eagle boys entered at 3-2.
Eagle Grove’s girls would give their best performance of the season to date against the Cougars, but in the end, it was Manson that hit just a couple more shots for a 49-45 win. Nadia Kaiser led all scorers with 23 points for Eagle Grove in the loss.
The Eagles boys followed against a tough Manson boys team and took advantage early by taking a 16-10 lead after the first quarter. However, Manson’s offense woke up in the 2nd quarter, as the Eagles held just a 31-29 lead at halftime. The 3rd quarter was neck-and-neck, as Eagle Grove held a 44-41 lead going into the 4th quarter, but the Cougars defense slowed Eagle Grove enough to come away with a 54-52 win. Logan Moline had 17 points in the win for the Cougars.
Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Monday night, when they host West Bend-Mallard for “Coaches vs. Cancer” Night at Eagle Grove Elementary School.
