The Eagle Grove Eagles basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as the Eagles made the trip north to the Minnesota border to take on the Lake Mills Bulldogs in Top of Iowa West action at Lake Mills High School. The Eagle girls entered at 0-5, while the Eagle boys entered at 3-1.
Lake Mills would jump out to an early 14-5 lead after the first quarter, which grew to 24-11 by the halftime break. Eagle Grove’s offense picked up pace in the 3rd quarter, but the Bulldogs did as well to take a 43-20 lead, and 13-0 shutout in the 4th quarter gave Lake Mills a 56-20 win. Stats were not available on Bound as of Wednesday morning.
Eagle Grove’s boys followed with a matchup against the #2 team in Class 1A, and the Eagles showed impressive fight early. However, as the game grew on, the size of the Bulldogs took control as Lake Mills rode out an 83-59 win. Drake Canavan led Eagle Grove with 21 points, while Aiden Stensrud finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds.
Eagle Grove basketball returns to action on Thursday night, when they host Manson-Northwest Webster at 6 PM at Eagle Grove Elementary School.
