The Webster City Lynx girls basketball team returned to action on Friday night, as they hosted the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. The Lynx entered Friday at 0-5, while Algona entered at 2-2 and ranked #11 in Class 3A per the IGHSAU.
Unlike previous games against rated foes, the opposition came out slowed Webster City from the start, leading 21-4 after the 1st quarter, a lead that grew to 42-17 at halftime as the Lynx offense picked up in the 2nd quarter. However, the Algona defense would tighten up in the 2nd half, yielding just 6 points to the Lynx in a 66-23 victory.
Tristyn Wright led Webster City with 10 points and a pair of three-pointers, while Lauren McLaughlin and BellaJo Dunning led Algona with 17 points each.
Webster City girls return to action on Tuesday night, when they host St. Edmond in a girls/boys doubleheader at Webster City High School.
