The Roland-Story Norsemen basketball teams returned to action on Tuesday night, as they welcomed in the Perry Bluejays in Heart of Iowa Conference action at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen girls entered at 3-0, while the Norsemen boys entered at 2-0.
Roland-Story’s kicked off the night and looked absolutely dominant in the 1st half, shutting out Perry in the 1st quarter and holding a 27-0 lead, ballooning that lead to 51-6 at halftime. Perry would get some footing in the 2nd half as the Norsemen bench picked up most of the run in the 2nd half, en route to a 65-19 win. Kam Lande was the KQWC Player of the Game, scoring game-high 12 points, as 11 of the 12 Norsemen varsity players registered a bucket in the game.
The boys game followed as the Norsemen would be challenged by a much improved Perry team, but Roland-Story led 14-10 after the first quarter. The offense began to heat up in the 2nd quarter, with the Norsemen putting up 21 points in the frame to take a 35-24 halftime lead. The 3rd quarter saw the Bluejays not fold like recent Perry teams, rather storm back and tie the game at 41-41 going into the 4th quarter. However, the play of Jonovan Wilkinson and consistent free throw shooting allowed Roland-Story to prevail 69-57. Wilkinson was the KQWC Player of the Game, as he scored a game-high 24 points with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Perry’s Drake Levan led the Bluejays with 20 points.
Roland-Story returns to action on Friday night, as they host Greene County in Heart of Iowa Conference action at 6 PM.
