South Hamilton wrestling competes in Doug Wood Invitational at Manson

The South Hamilton Hawks wrestling team returned to action on Saturday, when they competed in the annual Doug Wood Invitational at Manson-Northwest Webster High School in Manson. The Hawks were joined by the host Cougars, as well as Alta-Aurelia, East Sac County, MMCRU, Ogden, Ridge View, South Central Calhoun, St. Edmond, West Bend-Mallard and Woodbury Central.

South Hamilton would see a handful of 2nd place finishers on Saturday, most notably senior Keyton Remsburg at 157 lbs. Remsburg pinned his quarterfinal matchup in Ogden’s Landon Alexander, before pinning Alta-Aurelia’s Tate Jarvis in the semifinals. Remsburg was locked in a close match with South Central Calhoun’s Brock Nattress in the finals, but Nattress picked up a 3rd period pin to capture the title, as Remsburg placed 2nd.

Braden Young would also place 2nd at 150 lbs, winning his 1st round match of MMCRU’s Parker Glassmaker in a 10-8 decision, before winning a 9-7 decision over Ogden’s Simon Hickingbottom in the quarterfinals. Young then picked up a pin over Woodbury Central’s Camron Zellmer in the semifinal, before getting pinned by Ridge View’s Conner Jacobson in the finals to place 2nd.

Sam Fink also scored a runner-up finish at 175 lbs, pinning South Central Calhoun’s Keaton Kent in the quarterfinals, before pinning Ogden’s Jackson Swigert in the semifinals. Fink would then be pinned by Woodbury Central’s Carter Wright in the finals in 2:58 to finish 2nd at 175 lbs.

Other placers for South Hamilton included Jonathan O’Neal in 3rd at 165 lbs, Graham Peters in 3rd at 190 lbs, Holden Klein in 5th at 126 lbs, Jaxon Watson in 6th at 144 lbs and Gaige Willis in 6th at 215 lbs.

South Hamilton returns to action on Saturday, when they compete in the Central Springs Round Robin Dual Tournament in Manly at 9 AM.
