The Webster City Lynx girls basketball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the 7th-ranked team in Class 3A in the Clear Lake Lions at Webster City High School for the Lynx’s NCC opener. Webster City entered at 0-2, while Clear Lake entered at 0-1.
Mark Fisher’s squad appeared to be up to the challenge early, dueling back-and-forth with Clear Lake and only trailing 11-8 after the first quarter, and holding a lead at one point in the 2nd quarter, but went into the halftime break trailing 26-22. The 2nd half would belong to Clear Lake, as the Lions outscored the Lynx 22-5 in the 3rd quarter to take a commanding 48-27 lead before pacing the game out with a 60-30 victory.
Marissa Hedeen was the leading scorer for Webster City with 9 points and 5 rebounds, while Clear Lake’s Xada Johnson was the game-high scorer with 17 points. Webster City girls return to action on Friday, when they travel to Parkersburg to take on the Aplington-Parkersburg Falcons at 6 PM.
