Fish stocking Friday at Briggs Woods Lake south of Webster City.

The Enhance Hamilton County Foundation has received funds from private individuals and the Denny Thompson memorial to stock walleyes at Briggs Woods Lake. The fish were purchased from Beemer Fisheries of Bedford, Iowa.
The recommended stocking program, according to the Iowa DNR, is 10 fish per surface acre. Briggs Woods Lake is roughly 55 acres = 550 fish. The recommended fish stocking length is 7-9 inches, to avoid a high predation rate from other fish, such as the largemouth bass.
Under Hamilton County Conservation rules and regulations, a 15-inch length limit is imposed to keep Walleyes that are caught. Walleyes are considered a bonus fish in our lakes. It is anticipated to continue annual stocking at both lakes in Hamilton County, if private donations continue.
Your tax-deductible contribution to the Enhance Hamilton County Foundation/Walleye Fund will help support a successful walleye stocking program in Hamilton County.
