Final meeting for Main Street Kiwanis Club Wednesday night.

The members of the Webster City Main Street (Morning) Kiwanis club met for the final time Wednesday evening at the Briggs Woods Conference Center. The local service group is ending after a decline in membership in recent years. The Main Street Kiwanians have been active part of Webster City and Hamilton County for many years with their Tuesday meetings at the Grid Iron Grill. The group was known for their chili suppers on Homecoming night each autumn at Webster City High School. During their final meeting attended by the members,spouses and guests, the Main Street Kiwanis group presented monetary gifts from their money accounts. Webster City High School,Webster City Middle School ,Sunset Heights, Pleasant View, Stratford Elementary, Northeast Hamilton Elementary and St. Thomas Aquinas Elementary Schools each received $1,000. Kendall Young Library, Upper Des Moines Opportunity, St. Paul Lutheran Food Pantry,Trinity Lutheran Food Pantry, Webster City Daycare, Riverview Day Care,Meals on Wheels,All Cultures Equal Food Pantry, Webster City High School After Prom, Willson Brewer Park and Officer Moab (the K-9 member of the Webster City Police Department) and the Webster City Police Department all receive $500. The Webster City FFA also received $500 to go toward their next meal packaging for Meals from the Heartland. The Main Street Kiwanis also set aside $6000 to be used for scholarships for graduating Webster City High School seniors for the next few years.
The Webster City Main Street Kiwanis thanks the community for all the support as they wrap up after 50 years.
