This year, we have introduced two new awards. They are the outstanding livestock exhibitor award and the outstanding static exhibitor award. After the fair ended, Brynna and I sat down and examined who really stood out to us this year as exhibitors. Some things we considered were the number of projects or species exhibited, quality of exhibits, involvement at both the county and state fair, history of exhibition, and leadership and civic engagement within their area. This year, we are excited to announce two young ladies who exhibited true leadership at both the county and state fair.
Outstanding Livestock Exhibitor Award goes to someone who has shown four different species of animals throughout her 4-H career. She has taken home almost every award available in horse exhibition, and serves as a positive role model for younger 4-H exhibitors. This year’s Oustanding Livestock Exhibitor is Morgan Paulson.
· Morgan Paulson
Outstanding Static Exhibitor Award goes to someone who brought 10 static exhibits this year, including challenge class entries. She exhibited extremely well, with multiple exhibits qualifying for the state fair and/or qualifying as state fair alternates. She takes great pride in her quality of exhibits and is always willing to help younger 4-H members out. This year’s outstanding static exhibitor is Samantha Tilley.

This year, it is planned to take awardees to Cedar Falls for a nice supper and to see “Come From Away” a Tony award winning musical based on a true story of how a small island banded together to help other’s get through the hard days after 9/11 grounded all airplanes. This year’s award winners are:

The Career Achievement Award is a new scholarship opportunity provided by the Hamilton County 4-H Foundation for current high school seniors who will be graduating in the spring. This is a competitive scholarship, requiring an application and an interview with foundation members. Some of the things taken into account when selecting awardees included involvement at the club, county, and state level, the ability to communicate the impact 4-H has had on them, leadership and civic engagement, and proven growth throughout their 4-H journey. This year we will be awarding 3 seniors a $500 scholarship to aid them in their post-secondary education. They will also be receiving a plaque.
· Our first recipient is a 9-year member of the Clear Lake Sailors. She has served in multiple club leadership positions, enjoys exhibiting goats and horticulture at the county fair, and enjoys all the citizenship opportunities 4-H provides. Cady Zimmerman
· Our second recipient is a 9 year member of Stratford Spirit. He has shown multiple species of animals and is very active in the County Youth Council. Although he won’t always admit it, he enjoys serving as a role model for our younger 4-H members. Gage Smith
· Our final recipient is also a 9 year member of Stratford Spirit. She has been involved in just about every project area available, and is very active as a junior leader for the dog and horse project. You never know what she will say or do next, but she is extremely reliable and always willing to do whatever is asked of her. Morgan Paulson
