Clarion-Goldfield-Dows season ends against West Lyon, 50-0

The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboys football team made the trip into far northwest Iowa for the first round of the Class 2A Playoffs, to take on the perennial power West Lyon Wildcats at the Jay Roozeboom Athletic Complex in rural Lyon County. The Cowboys entered at 3-5 and 2-3 in the district, while West Lyon entered at 7-1 and 4-1 in District 1.

The night would belong to West Lyon, but a slow start would make things interesting, as Jaxan Huyser opened the scoring with 26-yard touchdown run to put the Wildcats up 6-0. West Lyon would add an Anderson Trejo field goal before the end of the 1st quarter to put the Wildcats up 9-0 after one. West Lyon did manage to punch a touchdown in during the 2nd quarter as well, but the 4th-ranked team in Class 2A only led 16-0 at the halftime break.

The floodgates would open in the 2nd half for West Lyon, putting 34 unanswered points en route to the 50-0 shutout over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows. CGD did not have stats inputted to Bound at the time of release. CGD’s season ends with a record of 3-6, while West Lyon advances to face Western Christian on Friday night.
