The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they hosted the Independence Mustangs in Class 3A, Region 5 action at Roland-Story High School in Story City. The Norsemen entered with a record of 24-11, while the Mustangs entered at 18-22 out of the WaMaC.
The Norsemen and Mustangs would hammer it out in the opening set, but Roland-Story took a controlling 25-20 victory. Independence wouldn’t go away easily however, upping their game in the 2nd set, but it was still Roland-Story that came away with a 25-21 victory, before the Mustangs ran out of gas in the 3rd set, as the Norsemen won it 25-11 and picked up the 3-0 sweep.
Kamryn Lande was the top attacker for the Norsemen with 11 kills, along with 2 blocks and 2 aces on the night. Freshman Brookelyn Jondle had 10 kills on the night and a block, while Miley Geise had 19 assists and a team-high 5 kills.
Roland-Story returns to action on Thursday night, when they travel to La Porte City to take on #8 Union Community in Class 3A, Region 5 action at 7 PM.
