The Webster City Lynx volleyball team made the eastern trip into Franklin County on Thursday night, to take on the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Bulldogs in North Central Conference action at HD-CAL High School in Hampton. Webster City entered Thursday at 13-10 and 3-2 in the conference, while HD-CAL entered at 7-15 and 1-4 in the conference.
Webster City would come out of the gates and take care of business early, taking the 1st set by a score of 25-22. Hampton-Dumont-CAL followed this up by stealing the 2nd set by a score of 25-22 to knot things up at 1-1. Webster City did not flinch at the challenge answering in convincing fashion in the final two sets, winning both by scores of 25-16 to clinch a 3-1 win.
Olivia Gallentine and Marissa Hedeen both led the way with 10 kills each, as Gallentine added 3 blocks as well. Delainey Bargfrede had an exceptional night, with 19 assists, 9 kills, 3 blocks and an ace. Ava Peterson also had 20 assists, while Adysen Poppen recorded 7 kills and 5 blocks.
Webster City returns to action on Saturday, as they make a return trip to Hampton to compete in the Hampton-Dumont-CAL Tournament, beginning at 9 AM.
