The Eagle Grove Eagles football team returned to action on Friday night, as they made the west trip into Sac County to take on the Raiders of East Sac County at the Wall Lake Athletic Complex in Wall Lake. Eagle Grove entered Friday at 0-5 and 0-2 in district play, while East Sac entered at 2-3 and 0-2 in district play.
The offenses would struggle throughout the first quarter, with both teams not able to move the needle. In the 2nd quarter, East Sac put together a drive that stalled inside the 25, but kicker Luke Wright knocked through a 37-yard field goal to make the score 3-0 Raiders. Eagle Grove would drive to the 5 yard line, but a fumble on 3rd and goal gave the ball back to East Sac County. Both teams would trade punts in the second quarter to send it into halftime with the score 3-0 East Sac.
The 2nd half saw teams trade punts once more, but East Sac put together a short, yet effective drive that produced a 38-yard field goal from Luke Wright to make it 6-0. Following an Eagle Grove turnover on downs on their side of the field, East Sac’s drive went nowhere, but Luke Wright showed the range of his leg, nailing a 47-yard field goal to make the score 9-0 East Sac County. Hayden Schafer’s pass on the following drive was intercepted, setting up a 2-yard touchdown run by Landon Grindle to make the score 16-0, before Jack Gullett iced the game in the 4th quarter with a 34-yard touchdown run to give East Sac County a 23-0 win.
