The Webster City Lynx and Eagle Grove Eagles cross country teams made the northern trek into Kossuth County on Monday night, to compete in the annual Algona Invitational at River Road Golf Course in Algona. The Lynx and Eagles were joined by the host Bulldogs, as well as Bishop Garrigan, Charles City, Clear Lake, Emmetsburg, Estherville-Lincoln Central, Forest City, Fort Dodge, GTRA, Humboldt, Mason City, North Union, Okoboji, Pocahontas Area, Spencer, Spirit Lake, St. Edmond and West Bend-Mallard.
Webster City’s boys would place 12th as a team with 312 points, as Justin Callahan was the Lynx top placer in 30th, finishing in 18:11.96. Aide Rahe would follow up in 52nd in a time of 19:03.92, while Jack Barner wasn’t far behind in 57th in 19:12.30. Owen Patterson placed 90th and kyzer Zinnel was 91st to round out the scoring for Webster City.
Eagle Grove’s boys would place 11th with 301 points, as their top placer was senior Noah Thul, finishing 48th in a time of 18:57.90. Zabdi Castro would place 51st in a time of 19:03.20, while Dylan Beck was 65th in 19:54.14. Hunter Waldo-Martinez placed 70th and Patrick Heaton was 72nd to round out the scoring for Eagle Grove.
The Webster City girls would place 13th with 346 points, as Izzy Grossoehme would place 48th in a time of 23:07.63. Rosemary Chamness was 85th in 25:33.30, Karina Murray was 89th in 25:57.73, Sydney Oswald was 92nd and Lydia VanDeer was 94th to round out the Lynx lineup. Eagle Grove’s girls did not compete in the meet.

Webster City cross country returns to action on Saturday, when they compete at the South Hardin Invite at Pine Lake Country Club in Eldora. Eagle Grove cross country returns next Tuesday, when they host their home meet at Eagle Grove Golf Course.
