The South Hamilton Hawks and Roland-Story Norsemen cross country teams returned to action on Monday night, as they competed at the annual Nevada Invitational at Indian Creek Golf Course in Nevada. The Hawks and Norsemen were joined by the host Cubs, as well as Baxter, BCLUW, Colo-NESCO, East Marshall, Gilbert, Grundy Center, Iowa Falls-Alden, North Polk, South Hardin and West Marshall.
South Hamilton’s girls would place 8th with 195 points, Cici Herrick was the top placer, finishing 28th in 24:02. Olivia Beaune placed 35th in 24:54, Brooklyn Doolittle placed 36th in 25:04, Isabel Swenson was 47th in 28:12, while Kayley Zanker rounded out scoring in 49th in 28:41. Roland-Story’s girls did not compete in Monday night’s meet.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 7th in the meet with 204 points, Corbin Lucchesi was the top runner, placing 21st in 18:37, while junior Evan Voga was 34th in 19:36. Lucas Wuebker placed 46th in 20:11, Henry Dahlsten was 47th in 20:18, and Luccas Hart rounded out the scoring in 56th in 21:18.
South Hamilton’s boys would place 9th with 219 points, the top placer was junior Laken Zanker, who put together his best race of the year and finished 35th in a time of 19:39. Pete Coburn placed 36th in a time of 19:44, Hayden Hull was 37th in 19:46, Bobby Tapper was 42nd in 20:03, while Eli Ralston rounded out the lineup in 69th in a time of 20:03.
Roland-Story cross country returns on Thursday, when they compete in the Leon Fox Invite at Perry Golf and Country Club in Perry. South Hamilton cross country returns on Saturday, when they compete in the Steve Johnson Invitational at Wartburg College in Waverly.
