The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted the Gaels of Fort Dodge, St. Edmond in North Central Conference action at Webster City High School. Webster City entered at 8-8 and 1-2 in the NCC, while St. Edmond entered at 3-13 and also 1-2 in the NCC.
It would be a slow start to the night for the Lynx, trailing by as much as 9 in the opening set. The Lynx would claw back to bring it within 3, but St. Edmond closed out the first set by a score of 25-20. The 2nd set would go much differently, as Webster City jumped out to a big lead early, using that to vault the Lynx to a 25-20 set 2 win. Set 3 was more of the same, but the Gaels clawed back to make interesting, however, Webster City held on for the 25-23 win. Set 4 was a back-and-forth affair early on with each team trading points, but it was the Lynx who would pull away late for a 25-17 win and 3-1 win over the Gaels.
The Player of the Game was Webster City senior Addy Tesdahl, who finished with a team-high 12 kills in the win. Delainey Bargfrede had 8 kills and 3 aces, as did Marissa Hedeen. Olivia Gallentine finished with 9 kills on the night, as St. Edmond’s Ava Underberg finished with 10 kills and 2 aces.
Webster City volleyball returns to action on Monday night, when they host Clear Lake in their Cancer Awareness night at Webster City High School.
