The Roland-Story Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams competed in the 37th annual Norsemen Invite at River Road Golf Course in Story City on Thursday evening. The Norsemen and Hawks were joined by Bondurant-Farrar, Clear Lake, Greene County, Madrid, Nevada, Ogden, Saydel, Southeast Valley and Woodward Academy.
Roland-Story’s girls would place 3rd with 69 points, behind (3A) #9 Clear Lake a 1A top-ranked Madrid. Claire Truesdell was the top placer for the Norsemen, finishing 6th in a time of 21:10.56, as Makenna Carlson placed 13th in a time of 21:54.90. Elizabeth Ihle placed 15th in a time of 22:05.15, Brooke Thompson placed 17th in 22:08.25, and Kara Patterson placed 18th in 22:33.30 to round out the Norsemen scoring.
South Hamilton’s girls would place 7th with 210 points, with Cici Herrick as the top placer in 31st, with a time of 23:27.56. McKenna Miller placed 48th in 25:31.57, Brooklyn Doolittle placed 53rd in 26:01.44, Bianca Seaton placed 55th in 26:05.71, as Olivia Beaune rounded out the varsity scoring in 71st in 28:23.85.
Roland-Story’s boys would place 9th in the meet with 195 points. Corbin Lucchesi was the top Norsemen runner, placing 16th in 18:16.09. Evan Voga placed 20th in 18:21.64, Henry Dahlsten was 48th in 20:00.87, Lucas Wuebker was 55th in 20:11.72, as Luccas Hart was 56th in 20:28.39 to round out the scoring.
South Hamilton’s boys would place 7th in the meet with 191 points. Pete Coburn was the top Hawk runner, placing 18th in 18:20.46, while Hayden Hill placed 33rd in 19:12.64. Bobby Tapper placed 36th in 19:23.06, Laken Zanker was 46th in 19:52.61, while Eli Ralston rounded out the scoring at 58th in 20:48.07.
Roland-Story and South Hamilton cross country return to action on Monday, when both squads compete in the Nevada Invitational at Indian Creek Country Club.
