The Webster City Lynx cross country team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they made the drive north on I-35 to compete at the Mason City Invitational at Mason City High School. The Lynx were joined by the host Riverhawks, as well as Belmond-Klemme, Forest City, Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, Hampton-Dumont-CAL, Lake Mills, Mason City Newman, Valley Lutheran, Waterloo East and Waverly-Shell Rock.
Webster City’s girls would place 7th with 190 points, the top placer was freshman Izzy Grossoehme, who finished 19th in a time of 23:11.21, while Rosemary Chamness placed 43rd in a time of 25:10.86. Karina Murray placed 49th in 26:16.52, Lydia VanDeer was 55th in 26:48.20 and Sydney Oswald was 56th in 28:27.82.
The Lynx boys placed 6th with 168 points, Justin Callahan was the top placer, finishing 16th in 18:15.14, a new PR. Aiden Rahe placed 25th in 18:49.45, also a new PR, as Jack Barner also set a new PR in 19:30.06, placing 36th. Kyzer Zinnel placed 55th in 21:05.30, while Leland Eggers rounded out the lineup in 70th in a time of 23:26.90.
Webster City cross country returns to action next Monday, when they compete in the Algona Invitational at River Road Golf Course in Algona.
