The Webster City Lynx, Roland-Story Norsemen and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball teams returned to action on Saturday, as all 3 competed in the Forest City Tournament at Forest City High School. The 3 were joined by the host Indians, as well as Algona, Central Springs, Clear Lake, Lake Mills and Saint Ansgar.
Webster City opened their day with a tight loss to NCC-rivals Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 2-1 (18-21, 21-13, 14-16), followed up with a loss to Lake Mills 2-0 (9-21, 14-21). The Lynx followed up with a loss to 3A-rated Forest City 2-0 (16-21, 13-21), before picking up their first win of the day against Algona 2-0 (21-15, 22-20). Webster City fell in their final match of the day to Saint Ansgar 2-0 (16-21, 5-21) to finish the day 1-4.
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows opened their day with a loss to Central Springs 2-0 (16-21, 12-21) before picking up a win over Webster City 2-1 (21-18, 13-21, 16-14). The Cowgirls then fell to Forest City 2-0 (7-21, 21-23), before picking up another win over Clear Lake 2-1 (21-16, 16-21, 15-12). The Cowgirls ended their day with a loss to Roland-Story 2-0 (17-21, 18-21).
Roland-Story opened their day with a win over Clear Lake 2-1 (17-21, 21-12, 16-14), before falling in a tight match to Lake Mills 2-1 (6-21, 21-18, 13-15). The Norsemen then fell to Saint Ansgar 2-0 (19-21, 17-21) before falling in a tight battle with Forest City 2-1 (21-12, 19-21, 11-15). Roland-Story ended their day with a win over Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 2-0 (21-17, 21-18).
Webster City sits at 8-8 and hosts St. Edmond on Thursday night at 7:30 PM. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows is 9-10 and will travel to Pocahontas Area on Tuesday night at 7 PM, while Roland-Story is 10-6 and will host Greene County on Thursday night at 6:30 PM.
