The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the road trip up to Kossuth County to take on the Algona Bulldogs in North Central Conference action. Webster City entered with a record of 7-3 and 1-1 in conference play, while Algona entered at 7-4 and a similar 1-1 record in conference.
It would be a slow start to the night for the Lynx, as the opportunistic Bulldogs pounced early and took the opening set by a 25-11 margin. Webster City would get right back into the fight in the 2nd set, battling the Bulldogs all the way, but falling short 25-23. Webster City would then gather momentum in the 3rd set, by getting over the hump and picking up a 25-22 win to push the match to a 4th set. However, Algona rallied in the 4th set for a 25-22 win to take the match by a total of 3-1.
Marissa Hedden led the Lynx with 9 kills and 3 blocks on the night, as Olivia Gallentine finished with 7 kills and a block. Senior Delainey Bargfrede would have 20 assists and 3 kills on the night. Webster City volleyball returns to action on Saturday when they compete in the Forest City Tournament in Forest City.
