The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows volleyball team competed in tournament action over the weekend, as they made the trip into northeast Iowa to compete at the Jody Dosser Classic at Osage High School. The Cowgirls were joined by the host Green Devils, as well as Cedar Falls, Forest City, New Hampton and Waverly-Shell Rock.
It was a slow start to the day for the Cowgirls, taking on a rated-3A foe in Forest City, as the Indians took home a 2-0 sweep (7-21, 10-21). CGD followed up with a better played match against the home Green Devils, but still fell to Osage 2-0 (13-21, 20-22). The Cowgirls would follow this up with a pair of tough matches against perennial powers W-SR and Cedar Falls, falling to the Go-Hawks 2-0 (14-21, 7-21) and the Tigers 2-0 (11-21, 7-21). CGD ended their day against a tough New Hampton team and would fall 2-0 (11-21, 14-21).
Clarion-Goldfield-Dows returns to action on Tuesday night, when they host Wright County-rival Eagle Grove at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows High School at 7:30 PM.
