The South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams returned to action on Thursday, as they made the short jaunt into Ames to compete in the Gilbert meet at the Iowa State Cross Country Course in Ames. The Hawks were joined by AC/GC, ADM, Bondurant-Farrar, Boone, Carlisle, Clear Creek-Amana, Clear Lake, Gilbert, Madrid, Nevada, North Polk, Pella Christian, Van Meter and West Marshall.
South Hamilton’s girls placed 15th in the meet, with their top placer in sophomore Olivia Beaune, placing 77th in a time of 24:20.30. Cici Herrick would finish behind that in 82nd in a time of 25:13.60, while McKenna Miller placed 90th in 26:15. Brooklyn Doolittle placed 93rd, Isabel Swenson placed 95th, Kayley Zanker placed 98th and Bianca Seaton in 99th to round out the Hawks lineup.
The Hawks boys also placed 15th, as Pete Coburn was their top placer in 65th in a time of 18:43.60. Laken Zanker would place behind him in 77th in a time of 19:08.70, while Hayden Hill placed 89th in a time of 19:44.30. Eli Ralston would place 101st, Carson Gibbs placed 109th, Thomas Wirth placed 111th and Trace Junker placed 112th.
South Hamilton cross country returns to action next Thursday, when they compete at the Colo-NESCO meet.
