Roland-Story volleyball handles West Marshall, 3-0

The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they made the drive down Highway 30 into Marshall County to take on the West Marshall Trojans in Heart of Iowa Conference action. The Norsemen entered at 6-2, while the Trojans entered at 3-9.

The first set would be a positive one for the Norsemen, with the offense humming as it has most of the season with Roland-Story taking set 1 25-15. Set 2 would become an all out war, as the Norsemen and the Trojans battled back-and-forth, but it was Roland-Story that found a little bit more in extra sets, taking it 28-26. The 3rd set started off just as close, but Roland-Story gained control halfway through, using that control to pull off a 25-21 win and a 3-0 sweep.

The Jewell Market Player of the Game was Roland-Story middle hitter Kamryn Lande, who had 5 kills, an ace, and 8 blocks in the match. Ali Charlson and Miley Geise each had 14 assists, while senior Madelyn Risdal tallied 11 kills.

Roland-Story returns to action on Tuesday, when they take on Gilbert and North Polk in a triangular at North Polk High School in Alleman.
