Webster City volleyball upended on the road against Iowa Falls-Alden, 3-2

The Webster City Lynx volleyball team made the trip east on Highway 20 on Tuesday night, to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference action in Iowa Falls. The Lynx entered at 7-2 and 1-0 in the NCC, while IF-A entered at 2-6 and 0-1 in the NCC.

Webster City started slow in set 1, trailing 8-2 in the opener, but rallied for comfortable 25-16 win to take a 1-0 lead. The Cadets would have an impressive answer in the 2nd set, grabbing command halfway through to take a 25-15 win to tie the match at 1-1. Webster City would take that command right back in the 3rd set, jumping out to a big early lead, and closing out a 25-16 win in the set to take a 2-1 lead. However, things unraveled for Webster City soon there following, as IF-A took a dominant 25-13 win in set 4 to send it to a winner-take-all 5th set, where the Cadets would win 15-8 to stun the Lynx.

Junior Olivia Gallentine had a monster match, with 13 kills for the Lynx, while Delainey Bargfrede tallied 22 assists, 5 kills and 4 aces on the night. Webster City will return to action next Thursday, when they travel to Algona to take on the Bulldogs.
