Webster City Volleyball Upends Humboldt for the First Time Since 2013, 3-2

The Webster City Lynx volleyball team returned to action on Thursday night, as they hosted long-time rivals Humboldt in their North Central Conference opener at Webster City High School. Webster City entered Thursday’s match with a record of 6-2, while Humboldt entered at 3-4.

Webster City would get off to a fast start, taking down Humboldt in the opening set by a score of 25-18. However, the Wildcats would rip momentum back in their favor, taking back-to-back sets in convincing fashion by scores of 25-17 and 25-17. The Lynx would not go down quietly, rising up to take set 4 by a score of 25-18, before outlasting the Wildcats in a winner-take-all 5th set, winning in extra sets by a score of 17-15 to take the match 3-2.

Senior Delainey Bargfrede would have a monster match, tallying 13 kills and 24 assists, the 13 kills was tied for the team-high with fellow senior Adeline Tesdahl. Ava Peterson added 18 assists as well, while Olivia Gallentine tallied 11 kills.

Webster City returns to action on Tuesday night, when they travel to Iowa Falls-Alden to take on the Cadets in North Central Conference.
