The South Hamilton Hawks cross country teams made the short trek east into Hardin County on Thursday evening, to compete in the annual Pine Lake Run in Eldora. The Hawks were joined by the hosts in South Hardin, as well as Aplington-Parkersburg, BCLUW, Clear Lake, Dike-New Hartford, East Marshall, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Grundy Center, Hudson, Jesup, Meskwaki Settlement, Nevada, North Tama and West Marshall.
South Hamilton’s girls would place 10th in their meet, with the top placer in sophomore Brooklyn Doolittle, who scored 46th in a time of 26:25.7, Cici Herrick scored right behind her in 47th in a tgime of 26:27.4, while McKenna Miller scored directly behind that, placing 48th in a time of 26:45.5. Isabel Swenson placed 64th and Kayley Zanker placed 65th to round out the Hawks varsity lineup.
The South Hamilton boys would place 6th in their meet, with the top placer in senior Pete Coburn, placing 23rd in a time of 20:11. Freshman Hayden Hill would place 29th in a time fo 20:35, while senior Bobby Tapper placed 12th in a time of 20:40. Junior Laken Zanker was 40th in 20:59, while Eli Ralston placed 59th, Jaeger Ferrie placed 62nd and Thomas Wirth rounded out the lineup at 66th.
South Hamilton returns to action next Thursday, as both boys and girls compete at the Gilbert Invite hosted at Iowa State.
