The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Tuesday night, as they traveled to northern Dallas County to open up Heart of Iowa Conference action as they took on the Perry Jayettes. The Norsemen entered with a 5-2 record, while the Jayettes entered their first match of the season.
It would be a slow start in set 1 for the Norsemen, but mistakes from Perry snowballed and allowed the Norsemen to take the opening set 25-8. The 2nd set would also showcase a sluggish start, with Roland-Story only leading by 3 halfway through the set, but the serving of setter Ali Charlson allowed the Norsemen to pull away for a 25-14 win. Finally, the Norsemen would dominate set 3 in a rout by a score of 25-4 to cinch up the 3-0 sweep.
Freshman Miley Geise would have 4 kills and 5 aces on the night, as Ali Charlson had a game-high 6 aces for the Norsemen. Roland-Story is off the remainder of the week and will return to action next Thursday night when they travel to West Marshall.
