The Roland-Story Norsemen volleyball team returned to action on Saturday morning, as they traveled down Highway 30 to compete in the annual West Marshall Tournament at West Marshall High School in State Center. The Norsemen were joined by the host Trojans, as well as BCLUW, Columbus Catholic, Davis County, Grundy Center, PCM and Van Meter.
Roland-Story opened their day with a 2-0 win (21-17, 21-15) over Davis County, Madelyn Risdal finished with 4 kills and 5 blocks in the match, while Ali Charlson and Miley Geise combined for 11 assists. The Norsemen followed this up with a 2-0 win (21-19, 21-14) over BCLUW, where Grace Dowling led the way with 7 kills, while Kamryn Lande and Brookelyn Jondle each had 6 kills. Ali Charlson led the way with 9 assists, while Miley Geise had 8 assists.
The afternoon slate saw Roland-Story open with conference foe PCM and pickup a 2-0 win (21-10, 21-12). Madelyn Risdal and Kamryn Lande had a team-high 6 kills each, while Ali Charlson had a team-high 12 assists in the match. The Norsemen ended their day with 2-0 loss (16-21, 18-21) to a talented Van Meter team, Grace Dowling led the way with 5 kills, while Ali Charlson and Miley Geise each had 7 assists.
Roland-Story’s record stands at 5-2, and they return to action on Tuesday, when they travel to Perry to take on the Jayettes in their Heart of Iowa Conference opener at 6:30 PM.
