The Webster City Lynx volleyball team has put together a pair of highly successful seasons in 2021 and 2022, with a total record of 43-28, the best 2-year record for the Lynx since a 46-23 mark over 2012 and 2013. However, the 2023 incarnation of Webster City volleyball will feature many new faces to the varsity scene, as well as some that will see a much more prominent role in 2023.
Some of the key departures for the Lynx include hitters such as Abby Gallentine, Reese Casey, Livia Kasch and Sierra Rattenborg, while they also lose a pair of setters Fallon Casey and Joslin Gourley. Stepping up to lead the middle and outside hitters will be junior Olivia Gallentine and seniors Adeline Tesdahl and Bonnie Nohrenberg. Gallentine recorded 105 kills in 2022, while Adeline Tesdahl recorded 42 kills, Nohrenberg is stepping into a much larger role as a senior. Senior Ava Peterson is another one to watch from an offensive standpoint from her right-side position.
In the back line, the Lynx have big shoes to fill with the departures of Fallon Casey, Joslin Gourley and libero Alley Odland. The libero position appears to be Cloe Savitski’s as she enters her junior season, while Delainey Bargfrede will have an opportunity to win the outright setter job in 2023. Others to watch for in the back row include seniors Ellie Weinschenk and Addyson Beaulieu.
Webster City opens their season with a road quad at Roland-Story, where they’ll take on the Norsemen, South Hamilton and Central Springs on Monday, August 22nd.
