The Iowa Workforce Development office reported this week that Hamilton County’s unemployment rate for June went up to 2.8 percent for the month. This is up from the May rate of 2.4 percent and the June,2022 rate was 2.9 percent. There were 6,930 people employed in jobs in Hamilton County during June of this year while 200 people were unemployed. The unemployment rates for surrounding counties for June showed Boone and Franklin counties both at 2.8 percent, Hardin County at 3.1 percent, Story County at 2.5 percent, Webster County at 3.7 percent and Wright County at 2.7 percent. Iowa’s unemployment rate for June remained at 2.7 percent which was the same rate as in May.
