There is a new events coordinator for the Briggs Woods Conference Center. The Hamilton County Conservation Board on Thursday morning accepted the hiring of Bailey Morton to oversee the operations for events such as wedding receptions and conferences at the center located south of Webster City. The center has seen plenty of usage over the years. Morton had been park ranger for the Briggs Woods Park. The conservation board will begin the work in finding Morton’s replacement by advertising for the ranger position.
The season at the Briggs Woods Golf Course has been a productive one. Conservation director Brian Lammers said this month of July has seen an increase in play for the golfers plus there have been tournaments by businesses and organizations during the spring and summer.
Work will begin soon on the strategic planning for the conservation department with the RDG firm of Des Moines. There will be more discussion on this at next month’s board meeting.
The conservation board also met in a closed session on Thursday. The next scheduled meeting for the Hamilton County Conservation Board will be on Thursday,August 17 at 9:30 at Bells Mill Park near Stratford.
