The Webster City Lynx baseball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they hosted the West Delaware Hawks in the Lynx regular season finale at Webster City High School. Webster City entered with a record of 15-14, while West Delaware entered with a mark of 24-11.
West Delaware would take an initial 2-0 lead in the first inning, which was then extended to 5-0 after the top of the 3rd. Webster City would claw back with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd to cut it to 5-3, but things unraveled for the Lynx in the 5th, allowing 8 runs in the frame as West Delaware ended it after the 5th with a 13-3 victory.
Hayden Lyness led the way for West Delaware with 3 RBI, while Brent Yonkovic and Sam Ogden each had 2 RBI. Matthew Tesdahl would go 2-for-2 with 2 doubles and an RBI, while Ty McKinney would go 1-for-2 with an RBI double.
Webster City baseball returns to action on Friday night, when they travel to Hampton to take on Hampton-Dumont-CAL in Class 3A, Substate 2 quarterfinal action.
