The Roland-Story Norsemen softball team returned to action on Wednesday night, as they host fellow Story County foes in the Ballard Bombers at the Hennessy Diamonds in Roland. Roland-Story entered at 12-18, while Ballard entered at 9-13.
The Bombers would sprint out of the gate with RBI hits from Kasey Larson, Jada Lande, Halle Gardner and Maggie Mortensen to take an initial 5-0 lead. Roland-Story would get a run back in the bottom of the 1st off a Kayley Birkland RBI single to cut the lead to 5-1. Scoring would go quiet until the 4th, where Reagan Faber would drive in Brookelyn Jondle on an RBI single to cut the lead to 5-2. Ballard would then extend the lead in the 6th off 3 consecutive RBI hits from Jada Lande, Brooklyn Baumgardner and Kayci Rigby to take a commanding 8-2 lead, an leave with an 8-2 final.
Jada Lande and Maggie Mortensen each had 2 RBI for the Bombers, while Reagan Faber went 2-for-3 for Roland-Story with an RBI, while Kayley Birkland also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Roland-Story returns to action on Thursday night, as they open Class 3A, Region 2 action with the Lady Dees of Albia at 7 PM in Albia.
