The Webster City Lynx baseball and softball teams returned to action on Wednesday night, as they made the trip east on Highway 20 to take on the Cadets of Iowa Falls-Alden in North Central Conference play in Iowa Falls. Webster City baseball entered with a mark of 13-14, while Webster City softball entered with a mark of 13-15.
Webster City baseball wouldn’t take long to dismantle their NCC foe’s in a similar fashion as they did to them in Webster City. The Lynx would put up 4 runs in the 2nd, and 5 runs in the 4th, with a single run sandwiched in between in the 3rd to lead 10-0. An insurance run in the 5th put the score at 11-0, as the Lynx would wrap-up the 5-inning victory. Keegan Hisler would have a big night at the plate, going 2-for-3 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI, while Josh Stansfield would go 2-for-2 with a double, single, 2 RBI and was hit by two pitches. Brady Asklund pitched the 5-inning shutout, allowing no runs off 2 hits, while striking out 7 batters.
Lynx softball would put up a very similar performance to their baseball counterparts, after a scoreless 1st, Webster City put up 5 runs in the 2nd, and 5 runs in the 4th, with a two-run 3rd sandwiched in between. Webster City would hold on for a 12-0 win in 4 innings, Trinity Griffith would go 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and 3 RBI to lead the charge for the Lynx. Delainey Bargfrede followed up her no-hitter on Monday, with another shutout, striking out 9 in 4 innings, while only allowing 3 hits.
Webster City softball returns to action on Thursday night, as they will take on Eagle Grove on the road. Webster City baseball returns to action on Friday night, as they host Hampton-Dumont-CAL at Webster City High School.
